Clubman of the Year since 1966
|
The John Knight Clubman of the Year trophy is presented
annually to the member of the football club, who in the opinion of the
committee, has made the most outstanding contribution to the running of the club
during the season.
Any member of the football club is eligible to win this
prestigious award but it is usually won by a member of the committee, who has
serves the club above and beyond his elected position.
The cup was presented to the football club by the
family of John Knight who was a prominent member of the Egbertian Association
and football club, following his premature death in 1965. The Knight family
wished the cup to act as a memorial to John and wished it to be presented to the
club member who contributes the most to the well-being of the club during the
season, with emphasis on all round club support and work rather than playing
achievements. This tradition has held to this day.
